PDF: WomensLeadershipCertificationProgram – Outline

I enrolled in the R.I.T. Leadership Certification Program late 2012. This is a program brought to my school by the R.I.T. Leadership Institute and Community Service Center. The program goal is to educate students on professionalism and how to make yourself the best employee you can be. It covers topics and concepts that many have only discovered after trial and error in the work place. And let’s face it, in today’s society, you have to stand out in order to get the job or keep it.

I enrolled in the Women’s Career Leadership Program and spent over six months attending workshops, seminars, webinars, and volunteer events. Here are the Certification Program requirements:

  1. R.I.T.’s Annual Connectology Leadership Conference – Saturday April 21, 2013 – I had to attend three (3) RIT Leadership Institute & Community Service Center Workshops listed below.
  2. I had to attend one (1) Women’s Leadership Roundtable Luncheon.
    • Women’s Roundtable Luncheon
  3. I had to attend Three (3) Workshops or Webinars or Events.
    • Career and Co-op Services Workshop
      • Rise Above the Fray: Dealing with Difficult People in the Workplace
      • Connecting for Career Services
    • Center for Women and Gender Events
      • Hip Chick’s Tips on Leadership

Application Project / Activity

I had to participate in an application project or activity and complete a paper about the project. I had to apply the competencies I learned in the following way:

  1. A hands on leadership project such as a leadership role in a group, a co-op experience, a job experience, etc.
  2. Final Reflection Paper

After I attended all of the above and wrote my application project paper, I had to submit a two page Reflection Paper outlining everything I learned from each workshop and event I attended. In addition I had to detail the leadership application project I picked and how I used to concepts from the above workshops.
